His tree house obsession began when he was 25 years old when he received a note from an old high school buddy with an illustrated book written by David Stiles on how to build forts and tree houses. At the time, he had just finished college with an economics degree, but just couldn't silence his creative, carpenter self. He realized how much he had loved tree houses and began to build his own in his back yard. His first tree house was 4x6, contained a brick fireplace, and his wife thought he was nuts. Little did either of them know, he would go on to be the "tree house guy" hosting his own Animal Planet series, travelling the country building magnificent tree houses for people.
In 2005, after 20 years of building tree houses, he was on the hunt for property near his home is Washington state. He finally found the perfect property on just under four acres with a neighboring home also for sale, creating the perfect Tree House Bed and Breakfast, Tree House Point. Pete also runs Nelson Tree House and Supply, which is as it states, a tree house building and supply company. The company offers many tools that are designed specifically for the building of tree houses.
